Work

My work is drawn from a series of photographs taken in the Wester Ross area of the Highlands of Scotland which ,similar to many areas of the Highlands bears testament to a turbulent history. The Clearances and the forced abandonment of many of the dwellings give one an eerie feeling, whilst for the people who stayed, many of whom did not survive, the drive to make ends meet has also changed the landscape.

Life in the Highlands today continues to be a constant struggle against both the elements and the battle to earn a living. This is the unromantic nature of the Scottish Highlands.
